Three Down, Nine Across
This book contains 80 Bible-based, non-cryptic crosswords, originally published in The Baptist Times. Using seven different grids, the crosswords are presented in this volume with an introduction from the compiler, John Capon.
Questions also include a broad range of general knowledge. These puzzles are an excellent resource for group leaders looking for an imaginative way in to the scriptures.
John Capon spent 41 years in Christian publishing, including time at the National Christian Education Council, Scripture Union, The Church of England Newspaper, Crusade, Third Way, Tearfund and The Baptist Times. He also spent 25 years writing on religious affairs for the Sunday Telegraph, and has written a number of other books and several Christmas carols.
From: Methodist Recorder - May 2008
After retirement as editor of the "Baptist Times", John Capon undertook the compilation of the newspaper's weekly crossword and 80 of these have been brought together in Three down nine across, nicely timed for summertime travellers and holiday-makers. The puzzles have been adapted where necessary for a wider audience and the biblical clues are accompanied by specific references, using the first edition of the New International Version. There are also general knowledge questions and a couple of anagrams in each puzzle.
