Thomas Merton, Trappist monk and bestselling author, was a man of contradictions and paradoxes. He longed for silence and anonymity yet wrote copiously; he craved solitude yet carried on a vast correspondence from his hermitage, welcomed visitors there, and even fell in love. Come and learn from him how competing desires can all somehow be contained in a life centred on God.

Helen Julian CSF is an Anglican Franciscan sister, a member of the Community of St. Francis, and presently serving as Minister Provincial for her community. She has also written many books.
